Tree nuts such as almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts and cashews are one of the 14 allergens that must be shown on the label in the EU (point 8 of Annex II to Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011). These notifications report it in a food whose label did not declare it.
137 notifications since 1 January 2020 named undeclared tree nuts, under 1% of all EU notifications in that time. 22 in the 365 days to 8 November 2026, against 20 in the 365 days before, up 10%. 2% were border rejections and 86% had a serious risk decision.
The origins named most often were the Netherlands (26), Belgium (20) and Italy (20). The product categories named most often were cereals and bakery products (22), other and mixed food products (22) and confectionery (21). The products named most often were chocolate products (13), chocolate (10) and biscuits (4).
