118 notifications since 1 January 2020 named unauthorised genetically modified material, under 1% of all EU notifications in that time. 19 in the 365 days to 8 November 2026, against 17 in the 365 days before, up 12%. 33% were border rejections and 3% had a serious risk decision.
The origins named most often were China (45), Vietnam (15) and Germany (8). The product categories named most often were cereals and bakery products (52), feed materials (22) and food additives and flavourings (14). The products named most often were rice products (39), soybean meal (16) and food enzymes (14).
