Worked example with made up numbers

Say a provider offers 73.80 rupees per AED and charges a fee of AED 3.00, taken from the 500 AED you pay. AED 497.00 is converted, so PKR 36,679 reaches Pakistan. At today's mid market rate of 75.3105, your 500 AED is worth PKR 37,655. The difference, PKR 977, or 2.59%, is the full cost of this transfer: PKR 226 from the fee and PKR 751 from a rate 2.01% below mid market. These numbers are an example, not a real quote.

Questions

UAE to Pakistan, answered

What is the dirham to rupee rate today?

On 8 November 2026 the mid market rate was 75.31 Pakistani rupees for one UAE dirham (AED). This is ExchangeRate API's daily indicative midpoint rate. Banks and transfer services usually give a lower rate and keep the difference.

How much is 500 dirhams in Pakistani rupees today?

At the mid market rate of 75.31 on 8 November 2026, 500 AED is worth PKR 37,655. The amount that actually arrives depends on the provider's fee and exchange rate and will usually be lower.

What is the cheapest way to send money from the UAE to Pakistan?

No provider is cheapest every day. Ask each one how many rupees will arrive for the same amount after all fees, and compare that number with the mid market value. The quote with the smallest gap is the cheapest transfer that day.

Why is the rate I am offered lower than this one?

The mid market rate is a midpoint between buying and selling prices, not a retail price. Providers usually sell you rupees at a rate below it and keep the difference as their margin, often on top of a fee. The margin is part of the cost even when the fee is zero.

How much is a salary of 3,000 dirhams a month in Pakistani rupees?

At the mid market rate on 8 November 2026, 3,000 AED a month is worth PKR 225,932 a month, or PKR 2,711,178 over twelve months. The rupees that reach Pakistan will be fewer, after the fee and margin of the transfer.

Does the person in Pakistan pay a fee to receive it?

Not for qualifying transfers of USD 200 or more, which is about 734 AED on 8 November 2026. State Bank of Pakistan rules tell banks in Pakistan to keep these home remittances free of fees and charges for the sender and the receiver. The rules cover fees, not the exchange rate.

Is money sent home taxed in Pakistan?

Section 111(4) of the Income Tax Ordinance keeps up to five million rupees a tax year of foreign remittances, sent through normal banking channels and encashed by a Pakistani bank, outside the rules on unexplained income, if a bank certificate is produced. Exchange companies and money transfer operators count as banking channels.

How is gratuity worked out in the UAE?

Under Article 51 of Federal Decree Law No. 33 of 2021 it is 21 days of basic wage for each of the first five years and 30 days for each year after, once one year of continuous service is complete, up to two years' wage. Resigning does not reduce it.
