Room Khata is a simple shared expense ledger for people who share a room, flat or villa. Write down who paid for the rent, the groceries or the bills and who shares each one, and the khata keeps everyone's balance. No sign in for anyone: one phone keeps the book and the summary goes to the room on WhatsApp.
How it works

Every roommate's balance is worked out from who paid each bill and who shared it, and it always adds up to zero. In the example, Imran gets back AED 1,280.35 and Sajid owes AED 519.72.

The app lists the fewest cash handovers that bring everyone to zero. Tap Mark as paid when the cash changes hands. In the example, four handovers settle five people.

Pick who paid and tap the names of the people who shared it, or type a custom amount for each. In the example, four roommates share the vegetables and each pays about AED 35.57.

The month view adds every expense by category and by person. In the example, the room spent AED 3,735.50 in the month, of which AED 2,500.00 was rent.

Send a clear summary to the room's group chat with the totals and who pays whom, then close the month to lock old bills. Balances carry on to next month.

What it does
Every roommate sees what they paid, what their share came to and whether they get money back or owe the room. The balances always add up to zero.
The app works out the fewest cash handovers that bring everyone to zero. Tap Mark as paid when the cash changes hands.
Split a bill equally between everyone or only the people who shared it, or type each person's amount. Equal splits share the last fils exactly, so nothing goes missing.
Set the monthly rent and the day it is due. The home screen shows how many days are left and adds the month's rent to the khata with one tap.
See the month by category and by person, then share a clear summary in the room's WhatsApp group. Close the month to lock old bills so nobody changes them by mistake.
