Golden and blue hour, sun and moon direction, and saved shoot plans.
Early access. The app works in your browser today; the Android app follows when enough people ask for it.

Golden Hour Scout is a simple light planner for photographers, videographers and drone pilots. Pick a place and a date and see when the golden and blue hours start and end, where the sun rises and sets, and where the sun and moon sit at any time. Save your shoot plans and get a reminder before the light starts.
How it works
Real screens from the app, filled with example data.

Choose a city, use your location once or type coordinates, then step through the dates. A card tells you which light comes next and how long until it starts.

See the morning and evening blue and golden hours with their start, end and length, plus sunrise and sunset with the direction of the sun.

The sky chart shows the path of the sun, where it rises and sets, and the sun and the moon at the time you choose. Jump straight to sunrise, golden hour, sunset or blue hour.

Each saved shoot shows its date, its light and the exact times at its place. Upcoming shoots come first, and the example plans carry a label.

Pick the light you want, the date and how early to be reminded. The app works out the times for that place and shows when the reminder will come.

Search the built in city list, use your location once, or type the coordinates of a viewpoint. Times always show in the time zone of the place.

This is the real app running in your browser, with nothing to install. Tap around, type your own numbers and see what you get. What you enter stays in this browser.
Reminders work only in the phone app.
What it does
See the morning blue hour, the morning golden hour, sunrise, sunset, the evening golden hour and the evening blue hour for the day, each with its start, end and length. The app tells you which light is on now and how long until the next one.
Pick from a built in list of cities, use your location once, or type the coordinates of a viewpoint. Step through the days to plan a shoot weeks ahead. Times are shown in the place's own time zone.
A round chart shows the sun's path for the day, where it rises and sets, and the sun and the moon at the time you choose, with their direction and height in degrees. Jump straight to sunrise, golden hour, noon, sunset or blue hour.
See the moon phase, how much of it is lit, and when it rises and sets, so you can plan a moonrise over the skyline.
Save a shoot with its place, date and the light you want. The app works out the exact times and reminds you 15 minutes to 2 hours before the light starts.
Every time is calculated on the phone with the open source suncalc library. No account, no sign in and no data connection needed.
Times assume a flat, open horizon. Hills, buildings, haze and cloud change the light you actually get, so arrive a little early. Golden Hour Scout is in early access and free while we test.
