Car Walkaround is a guided checklist for anyone viewing a used car. Walk round the car area by area, mark each check pass, watch or fail, photograph what you find, ask the seller the right questions, and compare the cars you saw before you decide. It is a record of your own checks, not a mechanical inspection.

How it works

Car Walkaround in 6 steps

Real screens from the app, filled with example data.

  1. Keep every car you view
    1

    Keep every car you view

Each car shows its price, mileage, seller and how your checks went. In the example, the blue SUV has 3 fails and the silver hatchback has none.

  2. See what your checks found
    2

    See what your checks found

Each car adds up your pass, watch and fail marks into a score out of 100, and lists the fails so you can ask about them. In the example, the SUV scores 88.

  3. Follow a guided walkaround
    3

    Follow a guided walkaround

Six areas, from the exterior to the papers, each check with a short hint. Mark it pass, watch or fail, and add a note and a photo for anything that is not a pass.

  4. Ask the seller the right questions
    4

Ask the seller the right questions

Ten questions worth asking at every viewing, with room to write each answer as you hear it. The answers go into the report.

  5. Compare cars side by side
    5

    Compare cars side by side

Pick two or three cars to line up price, year, mileage, fails and scores, with the best on each row starred. In the example, the hatchback is cheaper at $11,900.

  6. Keep a report of each viewing
    6

Keep a report of each viewing

Share a PDF with the car details, the fails and things to watch first, every check, your photos and the seller's answers. It says clearly that it is not a mechanical inspection.

What it does

Everything in one place

A guided Walkaround

Six areas in a sensible order: exterior, tires and brakes, interior, engine bay, test drive and papers. Each check has a short hint on what to look for, so you do not forget anything with the seller watching.

Pass, watch or fail

Mark each check in one tap. Anything that is not a pass gets a note and a photo, so you remember exactly where the rust or the scratch was.

Questions for the seller

Ten questions worth asking, from why they are selling to whether money is still owing on the car. Write the answers down as you hear them.

A score from your own checks

The app adds up your checks into a simple score out of 100 and lists the fails first. It reflects only what you saw, and the app says so on every screen and in every report.

Compare cars side by side

Pick two or three cars and see price, year, mileage, fails, watches and the score for each area side by side, with the best on each row marked.

Reports to keep or share

Share a car check PDF with your notes, photos and the seller's answers, or a comparison PDF to talk it over with someone before you buy.
